A sure-fire way to destroy your computer system is not to maintain the registry. I found this out the hard way. My computer for months was moving slowly, and I would receive various messages. Well, I contribute this to lack of scanning and old age. My belief was I needed a new computer. I visited a major computer store, and looked at several computers. I spoke to one of the clerks, and explained to him the problem I was experiencing. He suggested cleaning the registry and suggested purchasing the Best Registry Cleaner Software, and my problems would be resolved. I am happy to say my computer is no longer experiencing problems.
