You Have An Idea For An Invention: Now What?

5:41 am Reference

If you are the creative type and are always finding a better way to do things, you might be a budding inventor.  But, now that you have an idea for an invention, what’s the next step?

You might want to do some research online and find out if anyone else has patented the idea.  If not, your next step could be to determine if there is a market for your product.

Once you are satisfied that your product is useful and wanted, you’ll want to contact a patent attorney.  It’s important to patent your idea so that your idea cannot be copied without your consent.

Don’t be intimidated by the legal forms or terms you deal with, such as “office action“.  You will become familiar with the process pretty quickly and your attorney can help you.

Once your idea is patented and marketed you’re on your way and, who knows?  You might just be the next Bill Gates.
