My Daughter’s Ballet Lessons
April 28, 2008 10:19 am ReferenceMy daughter wants to start taking ballet lessons this summer. My wife is under the impression that these ballet lessons will help her grow socially, and encourage her to have a better body image. I don’t know about the social part, but I have trouble buying the body image part. Have you seen the ballerinas. They’re posts! My daughter isn’t fat or anything, but she’s definitely not built like a prima ballerina. Who is? Who would want to be? I I am afraid that the teachers at the place she takes ballet lessons are going to reinforce this idea of "you must be a tall skinny beanpole," and so end up giving her some kind of complex. She can learn the social aspects playing t-ball.
