Old fashioned fire places always apealed to me on one level, I liked to be able to sit in front of them and get warm. But on another level, I didn’t like them. They were so messy, with having to bring in wood and getting bits of wood all over the place, and then you had to deal with the ashes and possibly with smoke blowing into the room. So now I am happy to have an electric fire place because I can have the heat without all the smoke and all the mess of an old style fire place.
