Compressed sphagnum moss for orchids
October 9, 2008 8:16 pm HomeThe good thing about compressed sphagnum moss is that it is facinating to watch how it expands and grows when you add water. I remember the first time a moss supplier showed me this. The biscuit of sphagun immediately began to swell. It rose in size and weight before my eyes. And nothign dripped from the bottom. So the sphagnum was living up to its reputation and holding a large amount of water in proportion to it’s bulk. These little discs are helping many orchid growers by holding moisture around the stem of their plants and making it fascinating for their children as they watch the compress moss discs swell and rise.
