I recently heard about a hiring freeze at my local hospital. A friend of mine who works there said that the hospital had just put on a hiring freeze due to budget restraints. He then clarified to me that the freeze only had to do with positions that did not have direct contact with patients. This meant no more desk jobs and security guards but did not endanger doctor jobs. I was finding it hard to believe that we live in a country where a hospital could not fill a doctor position just because of budget issues. I was glad for this misunderstanding to be clarified.
